Recipe Narratives

Kathleen’s post on that photographic recipe (yum) made me think of the BuzzFeed recipe videos I’ve seen circulating. Forget a boring list of instructions and ingredients… These videos bring the story of the cooking process to life. From start to satisfying finish, these 1-minute videos (give or take) incorporate their stylized narrative with music and pace, with a zoomed-in focus on the most visual elements of the story: the food. In an online culture where image is king (with video moving in for the throne), these speedy recipe videos certainly speak to our evolving digital cultural in the days since Julia Child.
