Hey all, in working on semiotics, I figured I would include a bit on Google’s recent logo change. You can see the logo change http://www.theverge.com/2015/9/1/9239867/google-new-logo-reactions.
Like us, Google went through iterations before arriving at the final design. In this link you can find the other variations that they considered. http://www.theverge.com/2015/9/1/9240045/new-google-logo-history.
The Verge also included commentary from graphics designers that can be found here http://www.theverge.com/2015/9/2/9248309/google-new-logo-graphic-design. An interesting comment was made regarding the use of circles in the logo and how they evoke a sense of playfulness.
The new simple “G” logo uses the three primary colors (red, blue, yellow) and also green- which, as we mentioned, is a color used by computers. Coincidence?
